N.Y. Photo Curator Call for Entry- 'The Unexpected' curated by Ellen Jantzen.

NOTE FROM ELLEN JANTZEN TO ENTRANTS:
"I want to thank all who entered “The Unexpected”. It takes a lot of courage to be an artist and even more courage to enter competitions where your work is pitted against others. The juror (me in this case) selects based on personal bias, the state of the photographic arts and instinct. As artist Mark Rothko said in an early essay “an artist of any skill level should seek to ‘make his/her work arresting and provoking of attention’”.

Please do not be discouraged if your images were not selected. There were many worthy pieces entered so it was a struggle for me to choose. I hope you see an emotional thread that ties my selections together.

Last, but not least, I’d like to thank Laurie for asking me to jury this call. It has been an honor."

20% of artist entry fees go to charity.
10% goes to Ellen Jantzen's's choice of charity-
